Just when I thought I was done with tattoos for the year, another flash day rolled around at one of my favourite studios and I just couldn't help myself.
This is one of those tattoos that doesn't have any special significance, it doesn't hold any deep meaning, I haven't spent years thinking about the design. Sometimes, a work of art is just meant to be pretty.
The concept for the shoot was pretty straightforward - simple, high-key, very shallow focus, and lots of warm natural light (I think my minimalism obsession is starting to seep into my work). I used a golden reflector in order to have a strong yellowish tint on the skin and warm up the hair.
I really like how this turned out. I especially enjoyed this whole process as this is probably going to be my last self-portrait photoshoot for the foreseeable future. As much as I love doing this, there are several projects that I've been working on for a while, and I feel like I really need to focus my attention on completing them this year.
These projects include two poetry books with photographic illustrations, a conceptual photography zine, a limited edition print shop, a new cyanotype design collection, as well as a few educational opportunities I'm planning to pursue. Although, new ink is always on my mind, so I guess we'll see ;)
Anyone know a good tattoo artist in Portugal?
